Physical Rehabilitation – A Multidisciplinary Approach

 

Dr Du Plessis and Ms Loch will be co-presenting on the multi facets of physical rehabilitation. They will discuss who should be referred for rehabilitation, when it should start, how it should be done and when it should end. The presenters will focus on the goals and outcomes of rehab – what can be expected and why rehab occasionally does not progress as expected. There will be an overview of all the professionals that can be involved and their role. Please note that only physical rehabilitation will be covered in this presentation, and not drug and alcohol.

You are invited to hear Dr Jason Beer, Orthopaedic Surgeon discussing how to ensure Independency in an IME. Dr Beer will present on how to objectively assess a patient, how to calculate a WPI and other elements of an IME. Dr Beer will also bring case examples of how two different specialists’ reports can differ, how these differences can occur and how to deal with them.

Dementia – An Overview and Management from a Psychiatric Perspective

 

Dr Macleod is a New Zealand based psychiatrist and palliative medicine specialist with extensive experience in the assessment and management of dementing disorders. With an aging population (and work force) the incidence of dementia in all communities is increasing. This has huge implications regarding the provision of care for these sufferers. Sub-types of dementia will be detailed and assessment and investigations discussed. No cure has yet been developed though there are available some management strategies. The dementia epidemic is fast approaching
